Comment from the Coach
|
Team,
A 2-4 loss today but an excellent game and one that I feel very good about.
We played with real cohesion from front to back, competed with vigour and
displayed excellent support and camaraderie on-pitch.
Looking back over the game, we led 2-1 for a significant stretch and only
conceded the lead in the second half of the second half. We had excellent
percentage possession, many, many corners and more than enough chances to
score more. Where we fell down was the final element of physically scoring -
sounds rather basic but whilst we were doing all the hard work, we were
simply not finishing off. Opportunities were not the issue, final finishing
was the missing element.
But that comes with confidence and the way you played today > that will
come.
Some excellent performances today. Benedict was solid in defence,
Matt exerted his presence mid-field and both James and Jack S
up front scored. Man-of-the-match was
Rob who played a pivotal role in defence in
the first half before morphing into striker in the second half with some
scything runs which deserved better results.
Training is on this week as normal. Looking forward to taking today's effort
into to training, working on a few areas and doing even better next week.
Special thanks to all the mums who braved the chill on Mother's Day to
support the lads - you should feel proud of their efforts. Thanks also to
Andrew for running the line.
