Comment from the Coach

Team,
A great game to watch today - fast, played in good spirit with some lovely
passages of play - the fact we won 3-1 was icing on the cake.
We arguably could have won by more, such was our domination of possession -
especially in the first half. We still have trouble converting possession
into goals but given the result, I'm not complaining (too much)...
Our defensive 4 played well - the cohesion was more evident than in recent
weeks - this provided more structure for Francesco who had a solid
game.
I asked the team before the game to take some longer range shots - Matt
answered this call with a stunning strike from a long way out to put us on
the board mid way through the first half. He also followed up with another
in the second half that had those of us on the sidelines willing him to shot
earlier - no need to worry as Matt had it all under control and coolly
slotted his second. After Alexandra clawed a goal back, we were under more
pressure - but we released the pressure with what I feel was the goal of the
season for us - not necessarily for the goal itself but for the way it was
executed. Bosher won the ball in midfield in a typically determined
passage of play, then send the ball deep into attack. James ran the
ball down hard and managed to scoop the ball back from just inside the line
to where Callum had made excellent position to confidently nail the
goal - fantastic to watch as every part of this sequence required that extra
bit of effort.
Man-of-the-match was tough today as we
had many impressive individual performances. But
Bosher playing as a defensive mid-fielder got the nod for a game
full of commitment, decisive intervention and great pitch vision. Whilst
still not match fit, his impact on the game was profound.
The only low-light was Gareth's broken arm from playing in goal at
school on Friday. Whilst he will be out for the rest of the season, it was
great to see him supporting the team today. We wish you a complete recovery
Gareth.
