Comment from the Coach
Today Darryl was not present at the match, replaced by Neil as Coach. A difficult start in the pouring rain for Oxshott having gone one behind within the first few minutes,however a fantastic fight back. No heads went down and Oxshott played a very spirited 35 minutes. Fran made some great saves , the defence were solid and good support play between the mid field and the forward line saw us go close on several occasions. A goal from Johnny to draw level and another from Matt saw us into a comfortable and well deserved lead at half time. "A GREAT PERFORMANCE FROM EVERYONE" ! Second half and it was still raining. A solid first 10 minutes in tough conditions and tiring legs saw us taking our foot of the gas a little. Weston came strongly into the game and went close hitting the wood work, more great saves from Fran but Weston levelled a few minutes later to 2 2 . The defence were left unsupported at times Rob, Gareth,Jack and Andy at full stretch with Jack making several last ditch saving tackles. Jack is this weeks man of the match for his sheer grit and determination. Weston proceeded to go 3 2 ahead with only ten minutes to go. Heads did go down but we soon recovered . Their goal appeared to spur us on and then the play was very much restricted to Weston's half. In the last, and what turned out to be the most dramatic minute, saw a miss timed sliding tackle in the Weston penalty area that gave us chance our last chance to go level . Matt stepped up the to the spot and slotted a perfect penalty past Westons keeper , his second of the day and the last event of great 3 3 result. If we could carry what we gave in the first half through the whole match then we will be a real team to be reckoned with. Well Done. Neil
