Comment from the Coach
Team, Very pleased with the effort yesterday. It was tough coming off a long summer holiday into 80+ minutes of frantic football - but to emerge from this with a 2-1 win was a great effort - especially finishing with only 10 men for the last 15 minutes. A couple of injuries to Jack and Jonathon took some gloss off - hope you guys are feeling better now. We had to shuffle things around a lot as we had most of our regular defense still away - so a great effort today from the back 4. We had 5 new players with the team today which is always takes a while to settle down - but it did, which was a credit to you all. John and Matt scored quality goals that were skilfully set up with some thoughtful play. Some other through-balls were beautifully weighted but we did not have the sharpness to finish that will come as the season progress. Many other opportunities that didn't quite stick as we were rusty, but they will come as we gain match fitness. Some great performances today - Matt, who is starting to play like he trains...looking forward to a great season here...James, who transformed from striker to defender without a blink and covered enormous ground. Francesco made some good saves as his confidence started to build. Man-of-the-match was Bosher (the man with no number...), a fantastic mid-field display of domination - winning many a ball through sheer determination and pushing forward to set -up some great opportunities.
