Team,
A good win for us today, but one
that I was not totally satisfied with.
The scoreline of 5-2 was a solid
win but we need to get better at converting the opportunities we get - they
did not get a sniff in the first half - but we simply did not get the goals
on the board. We should have been in double digits today.
But, it did not help with the ref
who missed blatant free kicks, did not allow a superb James H headed goal
and the tackle of James as he was going for goal was at minimum a penalty
and should have been a red card - but we must take the decisions as they
come and play on.
Again, I was very impressed with
the defensive line - evidence is we are by far the lowest conceders of goal
in the league when you look at games played - great effort guys.
Tom
played a masterful game today,
nutmegging at will and deft placements setting up many attacking
opportunities.
Callum's first goal
was a delight to watch - need more of them!
Raph's
goal was the culmination of some
deft moves we have not seen on the training pitch before - nice to watch!
Man-of-the-match for the second week running is
Martin
- another tireless display rewarded with 3 goals that could have been 5 if
the bars where a millimetre thinner.
Areas for us to continue to work
on are heading (look to the examples of Andy and Tom today - this is what
makes the best teams), more talking (only fits and starts today…unlike
training where we cannot keep you quiet...), passing under pressure and
general fitness - a bit of puffing towards the end - and not just from the
spectators….
But
tonight guys, savour the fact we are top of league table - well deserved!
Darryl
