Team,
Today's Cup
game versus Bookham B was against a side in the top half of the Division
above us - so on paper a mis-match. But we held our own - the first half
was very evenly matched with chances for both sides. The second half saw
a few breaks go their way before they ran out 3-0 winners. We never like
to lose but I was not overly concerned about today - whilst we did not
play well enough to win, we deserved to be on the board at least...
Again, the
growing confidence is evident and if we keep working on the basics, we
will do well this season.
Some solid
performances today - Ollie was reliable in goal,
Rob was back to his solid first-touch play again, James
played well in defence covering a lot of ground, Tom
started back on his path to match fitness and Callum was
grinding out a solid display in the mid-field. Man-of-the-match today was
Andy, a fine example of defensive heading, effective
positioning and strong clearances.
Very pleased
with the way the defensive line is starting to gel. We need to work
through a few different ideas up front and mid-field to ensure we are
giving the players their best chance of excelling - something for us all
to discuss and work on. We have the players and the talent - just need to
get it all in the right place!
